Easter's Bright Saturday

No trip to Concan is complete without a trip down to the Frio River.

The water by Bobby's house is just perfect.

Not too deep, but fun and refreshing enough to keep the kids entertained for hours.

Laurel had fun trying to catch a fish with these nets.

Which she did! Go Laurel.

Everyone had fun with these water guns.

Except when one of the munchkins decided to shoot the adults.

Even baby Caroline got into the water, and had a blast finding the perfect river rock.

Everyone had a great time. My mom was out for a bit, but mostly she made trips back and forth with things we needed... forgotten water shoes, drinks, swim shirts, sunscreen, snacks, beer, hats, tamales, more beer... you name it, she was bringing it to us. Thanks, Mom!

Next up, the dyeing of the Easter eggs.

We had what seemed like a million eggs to dye, but in reality, was only 72. Still.

That's a lot of eggs.

I was especially fond of the glitter tie-dye egg kits, which use little bags instead of cups.

These came out great!

We spent a lot of time playing around Bobby's property.

Now that he has a fiance with older step-kids, he's upped his game with a go kart.

Needless to say, Team Danger LOVED the go-kart.

LOVED.

And while Laurel, Audrey and Graham couldn't reach the pedals yet, they still found ways to enjoy the go-kart.

Just call them the Danger Cousins.

Remembering BeBe

Over Easter weekend, my family all got together and we had our chance to say goodbye to BeBe.

We all met up in Boerne, and scattered her ashes on the land that used to be our ranch.

Its now a subdivision, but fortunately there is a nice entrance to the subdivision with a fair amount of open land.

She joins my grandfather, whose ashes we also scattered there when I was in eighth grade.

It was bittersweet, seeing everyone together again.

Everyone shared special remembrances of BeBe, Doc, and the ranch.

We know she is in a better place, at peace and not in pain, and with the love of her life.

And we know how happy they both are seeing us all together, and with all the new additions to our family.

We love you, BeBe and Doc.

Its wonderful to think of you together, forever and always, on the ranch that we all loved so much, and which was such a part of all of our lives.

President Lincoln

Last week, the third graders held their Living History Museum at Spicewood.

It should come as no surprise that our little Civil War buff chose Abraham Lincoln for his project. ")

Chris and Al came to press his button, and watch him perform. And we grabbed Ryan from his class so he could also watch big brother.
Alex did a great job, having researched Lincoln, and written his entire two page speech himself.
I had printed out this nice prop for him to hold, tied up with a red ribbon, but "somehow" that got left in the classroom.

Still, I could not be more proud of Mr. Lincoln, and his success at abolishing slavery.

And here are a few of our adorable friends...

Bonus Feature: Dress Rehearsal at home, when I'm not sure if we are channeling Lincoln or Nixon.
