Summer Camp at the Austin Children's Museum

For the first time, we tried out a summer camp at the Austin Children's Museum.

Ryan and his friends Matthew and Michael (twin brothers) went together, and LOVED it.

We chose the "Get a Clue" session, and every day, they went on a fun field trip around some of the funkier sights in Austin, and learned about mysteries and investigating clues. The first day, they went Ghost Hunting at the Driskill Hotel. How fun is that?!?!

Other days, they had a scavenger hunt all around the Children's Museum.

But mostly, Ryan was just thrilled to be going with his friends, and spending the whole day with them. He especially loved the commute to and from camp. Since I work downtown, I had offered to drive everyone each way.

It put some pressure on me (no leaving early when the AC at work stops working, no sick days when you've been in the emergency room with your eldest until 12 am the night before) but it was worth it to watch and eavesdrop on Ryan and his friends having so much fun.

And if you can't tell, they were playing Pokemon all the time. ;)

We loved this camp, and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again in the future, although I'm not sure what the Children's Museum move form downtown to Mueller in the next few months will mean for camp. Mueller won't be nearly as convenient for me for a 9-5 camp. :(
